How to Be Single follows a group of New Yorkers navigating romance and singledom. Alice has just ended a long-term relationship and starts over in the city, where she takes a new job and bonds with her sister and roommate Meg and a free-spirited colleague named Robin. Their friend Lucy, meanwhile, is searching for a partner through a carefully planned approach, while Tom and David are at different points in their own romantic lives. Across the group, the characters' expectations about love and commitment rarely line up with what their encounters actually deliver.
