Lupin the Third: Jigen's Gravestone

Lupin and Jigen travel to East Doroa, a heavily fortified country, to steal a treasure known as the Little Comet. Tension between East and West Doroa is running high after the murder of a singer, Queen Malta, on a tour in the neighboring West, and the pair succeed in taking the prize. Their escape goes wrong when a sniper named Yael Okuzaki targets Jigen and nearly kills him.

Okuzaki has an unusual method: before shooting a victim, he carves that person's tombstone. Word has it that nobody has ever survived once he has prepared a grave for them, and he has already prepared one for Jigen. The weapon of the enemy and the growing danger between the two countries leave Lupin's partner in a perilous position and Lupin facing a new adversary. The cast includes Kanichi Kurita as Lupin, Kiyoshi Kobayashi as Jigen, Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine and Koichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata, with Akio Hirose voicing Okuzaki.

This 2014 film, a 51-minute action, adventure and crime animation from Japan, was directed by Takeshi Koike and written by Yuya Takahashi. It followed two earlier features on Koike's directing record, The Animatrix and Redline, and preceded Lupin the 3rd: Goemon's Blood Spray, Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko's Lie, and two 2025 entries. It holds a 7.2 rating on IMDb from around 1,200 votes and a 7.4 on TMDB from roughly 150 votes.
