Dr. Who and the Daleks

Dr. Who and the Daleks is a British science fiction adventure in which an eccentric scientist, Doctor Who, shows off his latest invention to his granddaughters and a young man named Ian. The machine, called Tardis, looks like an ordinary police box but can carry its passengers across time and space. When Ian accidentally sets it running, the group is taken to the planet Skaro, where they encounter the Thals, a peaceful people, and learn of the robotic mutant Daleks who threaten them.

The film was directed by Gordon Flemyng and written and produced by Milton Subotsky, with Max Rosenberg also producing. It was made by Amicus Productions and AARU Productions. Peter Cushing plays Doctor Who, alongside Roy Castle as Ian Chesterton, Jennie Linden as Barbara, Roberta Tovey as Susan, Barrie Ingham as Alydon and Michael Coles as Ganatus, among a credited cast of thirty-three. At 82 minutes, it is a family-oriented adventure.

The film was released in August 1965 and is the first of two Doctor Who features Flemyng directed, followed by Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D. in 1966. Audiences have been moderate in their response: on IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 5,800 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 out of 10 from roughly 130 votes.
