No Tears for the Dead

Gon works as a paid assassin in the United States, having left his mother behind in Korea and grown up inside a criminal organization. During a job he makes a fatal mistake: a young girl dies, and guilt over the killing of an innocent child leaves him wanting out of the life. His boss instead hands him one more assignment, which requires him to get rid of the girl's mother as well. The new target is Mo-kyeong, a manager at an investment firm who has buried herself in work since losing her daughter, unaware that she has become part of a larger scheme. When Gon approaches her, the man who has nothing to lose and the woman who has lost everything meet, and he decides he will not let his employers carry out the killing.

No Tears for the Dead was released in 2014. Lee Jeong-beom directed and wrote the screenplay, following his 2010 film The Man from Nowhere and preceding Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage in 2019. Jang Dong-gun plays Gon, with Kim Min-hee as Mo-kyeong and Brian Tee, Kim Min-jae, Jun Kim and Kim Hee-won in supporting roles; the credited cast numbers 55. The film took about 5 million USD worldwide.

On IMDb it holds 6.7/10 from around 7,800 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.3/10 from far fewer votes, a narrower and warmer sample. A critics' rating of 6.6/10 from seven reviews places professional response in much the same range as the larger audience vote.
