A group of astronauts leaves Earth to establish a new civilization on a distant world. After landing on the far side of the moon, the survivors attempt to build a utopian society. Over time, the original explorers die, and their descendants revert to a primitive culture governed by new myths and the worship of the founders as gods. Years later, an astronaut named Marek arrives from Earth and is mistaken for a reincarnated deity, leading to a conflict involving bird-like mutants.
Written and directed by Andrzej Żuławski, this Polish production is the third film in his directed chronology, following Possession and Mad Love.
