Short description
Hong Kong detective Bennie Chan has spent years trying to bring down Victor Wong, a crime boss he holds responsible for the death of his partner. When Samantha, the daughter of that partner, runs into trouble with Wong's organization, Bennie goes looking for the one man who can help him: Connor Watts, an American gambler who has crossed Wong's people as well and is on the run himself. The mismatched pair set out to reach Samantha in time, pursued by Wong's gang and a hired killer.
Renny Harlin directed the film, the nineteenth of the twenty-eight features he has made in chronological order, following The Legend of Hercules in 2014 and preceding The Misfits in 2021. Jackie Chan produced and stars as Bennie, with Johnny Knoxville as Connor, Fan Bingbing as Samantha, Winston Chao as Victor Wong, Eric Tsang as Yung and Eve Torres as Dasha, among a credited cast of twenty-three. The screenplay is by BenDavid Grabinski, Jay Longino and Chang Wen-Chia. It is an action comedy shot across Hong Kong, mainland China, Mongolia and other locations.
The film opened in July 2016 and cost about 32 million dollars to make, going on to take roughly 137 million dollars worldwide, a strong return for an action comedy of that scale. Audience scores are modest: 5.6 out of 10 on IMDb from over twenty-two thousand votes, and 5.8 out of 10 on TMDB. A critics' rating of 4.5 out of 10 from thirty-two reviews places it a little below those viewer numbers.

- Jackie Chan came up with the name Benny for his character so that Samantha, his partner's daughter, would call him Uncle Benny. The actor chose this name in honor of Kim Chan, who played Uncle Benny in the action movie "Lethal Weapon 4".
