Postal follows a down-on-his-luck man known as the Postal Dude, whose efforts to find work come to nothing while his home life falls apart in the town of Paradise. Teaming up with his uncle Dave, the leader of a small religious sect, he plans to rob a local amusement park. The scheme runs into trouble when a group of terrorists arrives in town intending to carry out the same robbery, leaving the Dude caught between the two factions.
The film is based on the video game series of the same name and was directed by Uwe Boll, who also wrote the screenplay with Bryan C. Knight. It was the seventh of the twenty films credited to him in chronological order, arriving between BloodRayne II: Deliverance and Far Cry. Zack Ward plays the Postal Dude, with Dave Foley as Uncle Dave, Jackie Tohn as Faith, Chris Coppola as Richard, Ralf Moeller as Officer John and J.K. Simmons as Candidate Welles. The production involved 68 credited cast members and 92 credited crew members and was made for 15 million US dollars.
Released in October 2007, the film drew weak responses during its run. It holds a rating of 4.5 out of 10 on IMDb from around 26,000 votes and 4.7 out of 10 on TMDB from just over 400 votes. A critics' rating of 3.6 out of 10 from 45 reviews places it below even those audience scores, indicating that reviewers were harder on the film than general viewers were.
