John Crowley has worked his way up from a modest background into a comfortable corporate career, with a wife, Aileen, and three children. When his two youngest, Megan and Patrick, are diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening genetic disorder, he decides the existing options are not enough. He gives up his job and approaches Dr. Robert Stonehill, a brilliant but controversial researcher whose theories have left him outside the medical mainstream, and the two found a biotechnology company to develop a treatment.
The film is based on a true story and follows the partnership between the businessman and the scientist as they seek funding and push their research forward, while the demands of the work strain Crowley's relationship with his wife and the family's daily life.
Extraordinary Measures was released in 2010 and runs 106 minutes. Tom Vaughan directed it from a screenplay by Robert Nelson Jacobs; it is the third of the five films he directed, between What Happens in Vegas and So Undercover. Brendan Fraser plays John Crowley, Harrison Ford plays Dr. Robert Stonehill and Keri Russell plays Aileen Crowley. Michael Shamberg, Stacey Sher and Carla Santos Shamberg produced it for CBS Films and Double Feature Films. Made for about 31 million dollars, it took in roughly 15 million worldwide. It holds a 6.3 out of 10 rating on TMDB from more than 350 votes.
