Animal Kingdom: Let's Go Ape

Based on the novel Evolution Man by Roy Lewis, this animated adventure comedy is set two million years ago. The story follows Edouard, a young ape-man who is separated from his tribe. Facing the dangers of the savanna and struggling with a physical injury, Edouard must rely on his resourcefulness to survive. He learns to walk upright and discovers essential tools for survival, such as fire and hunting techniques. Driven by a generous nature, he seeks to lead his people toward a more humane existence.

The film was directed by Jamel Debbouze, who also co-wrote the screenplay and provided the voice for the lead character, Edouard. The voice cast includes Arié Elmaleh as Ian and Mélissa Theuriau as Lucie. Produced in France and Belgium by companies including Pathé and M6 Films, the production had a budget of 38 million USD. It earned 17 million USD at the worldwide box office, recovering less than half of its initial cost. Audience reception was mixed, with the film receiving a 4.9 rating on IMDb from 1,500 votes and a 5.2 rating on TMDB from 367 votes.
