Short description

Barney Thomson, awkward, diffident, Glasgow barber, lives a life of desperate mediocrity and his uninteresting life is about to go from 0 to 60 in five seconds, as he enters the grotesque and comically absurd world of the serial killer.

What's left behind the scenes

At the beginning of the film, Barney asks three men in the barbershop: “None of you want to be cut by... me?” While pronouncing the pronoun, he waves his hands exactly as Robert Carlyle's character Rumpelstiltskin does in the television series “Once Upon a Time” (2011).
Ray Winstone plays a detective in the film investigating murders committed by a maniacal barber. In 2006, Winstone himself played a maniacal barber in the series “Sweeney Todd”.
Emma Thompson plays Robert Carlyle's mother, although she is only two years older than him. She was born in 1959, and he in 1961.
“The Killer Cut” is Robert Carlyle's directorial debut. Until that point, his directing experience had been limited to filming one episode of the series “Stargate Universe” (2009-2011).
Director and lead actor Robert Carlyle and actor James Cosmo, who also appears in the film 'Killer Haircut', previously starred together in Danny Boyle's crime comedy-drama 'Trainspotting' (1995).
