Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1983

Set in Yorkshire, this crime drama follows Detective Chief Superintendent Maurice Jobson as a new disappearance stirs memories of the 1974 killing of Clare Kemplay and the imprisonment of local man Michael Myshkin for that crime. Jobson begins to question whether the right person was convicted, while down-at-heel solicitor John Piggott, persuaded of Myshkin's innocence, takes up his cause. Their efforts push Jobson toward reckoning with past wrongs and the corruption surrounding the police force. The film is the third instalment of the Red Riding trilogy, adapted by screenwriter Tony Grisoni and directed by Anand Tucker.

It followed Tucker's Shopgirl and And When Did You Last See Your Father?, and came before Leap Year. David Morrissey leads as Jobson, with Lisa Howard, Chris Walker, Shaun Dooley, Jim Carter and Warren Clarke among the credited cast of 24.

Released in 2009 and running 105 minutes, the film drew an IMDb rating of 7.1 from around 9,500 votes and a TMDB rating of 6.9 from a much smaller base of 194. A critics' rating of 7.2 from 13 reviews places it modestly above the audience scores.
