Bone Tomahawk

When a suspicious stranger is shot and captured in the frontier town of Bright Hope, Sheriff Franklin Hunt has him locked up. A local doctor's assistant tends to the wounded man in his cell. That night the town is attacked, several people vanish, and the only trace left behind is an arrow belonging to a tribe of cave-dwelling cannibals. Hunt assembles a small group and sets out across dangerous country to bring the missing townspeople back.

Kurt Russell leads the cast as Sheriff Hunt, with Patrick Wilson, Richard Jenkins, Matthew Fox, Lili Simmons and David Arquette among the principal players. The film is the feature directing debut of S. Craig Zahler, who also wrote the screenplay; he went on to direct Brawl in Cell Block 99 and Dragged Across Concrete. It blends western and horror elements and runs 133 minutes.

Produced for about 2 million dollars, the film drew a modest but steady audience.
