Fourteen-year-old Mackenzie is sent to stay with her uncle in Juneau, Alaska, after her mother is no longer able to care for her. The arrangement at her uncle's rural home deteriorates, and she runs away, hoping to return to her mother in Seattle. Her journey becomes a dangerous one, spent sleeping in cars and slipping into hotel rooms, and along the way she meets Rene, a solitary backpacker seeking quiet in the wilderness.
Frank Hall Green directed and wrote the screenplay, with Julie Christeas, Green and Joseph Stephans producing for Tandem Pictures and Greenmachine Film. The film runs 104 minutes and belongs to the adventure, drama and thriller genres. Ella Purnell plays Mackenzie and Bruce Greenwood plays Rene, with Brian Geraghty as the uncle, Ann Dowd as Jeanie, Nolan Gerard Funk as Tommy and Diane Farr as Jane.
Released in September 2015, Wildlike drew a 7.4 out of 10 from 14 critics' reviews, a higher figure than its audience scores: on IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from about 5,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2 out of 10 from 125 votes. Those numbers point to a modest but clearly engaged response, with critics more positive than the wider viewing public.
