Lost in Beijing follows a young woman named Liu Pingguo who works as a foot masseuse in a Beijing salon owned by a middle-aged businessman, Lin Dong. She keeps her marriage hidden from her employer, while her husband, An Kun, supports the couple by washing windows on the city's high-rises. After a drunken evening, Lin Dong assaults her, and An Kun witnesses the act from outside the building. When Pingguo discovers she is pregnant, the question of who fathered the child draws the two couples into an uneasy arrangement built on money, obligation and leverage, with Lin Dong's wife, Wang Mei, pulled into the tangle.
The film was directed by Li Yu, who also wrote the screenplay. It was her second feature, released in 2007, and she returned to directing with After Typhoon in 2025. Fan Bingbing plays Pingguo, with Tony Leung Ka-fai as Lin Dong, Tong Dawei as An Kun and Elaine Jin as Wang Mei. Produced by Laurel Films with the French company The French Connection, it runs 112 minutes.
On IMDb the film holds a 6.7 rating from around 2,500 votes, while TMDB shows 6.5 from a much smaller base of 68 votes. A critics' rating of 5.8 from 23 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores. It earned about 5 million dollars worldwide.
