My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 returns to the Portokalos family years after Toula and Ian Miller's chaotic wedding. Their teenage daughter Paris is ready to leave home for college, and her parents struggle with the idea of her moving far away even as they try to keep their own marriage steady. Meanwhile, the family learns that Toula's parents, Maria and Gus, were never legally married because a priest failed to sign the paperwork decades earlier, so a new wedding is planned for the whole extended family to attend.
Kirk Jones directed the film, the fifth in his chronological filmography after Waking Ned, Nanny McPhee, Everybody's Fine and What to Expect When You're Expecting. Nia Vardalos again wrote the screenplay and stars as Toula, with John Corbett returning as Ian. Elena Kampouris plays Paris, while Michael Constantine, Lainie Kazan and Andrea Martin reprise their roles as Gus, Maria and Aunt Voula. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson produced the film, which was made for 18 million US dollars and earned 91 million worldwide.
On IMDb the film holds 6 out of 10 from 38,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6 out of 10 from 1,094 votes. Critics were less enthusiastic, giving it 4.6 out of 10 from 174 reviews, well below the audience scores.
