Expelled from Paradise

Set in a future where most of humanity has abandoned the ruined Earth to live as data in the digital world of Deva, the story follows Angela Balzac, a security officer in that virtual society. When Deva's systems are breached from the surface, she is sent down in a synthetic body to track down whoever is responsible, a hacker calling themselves Frontier Setter. On the desolate planet she joins forces with a local contact, Dingo, and relies on a powered exoskeleton to survive the hostile environment.

The film was released in 2014 and runs 104 minutes. It is a Japanese science fiction action animation directed by Seiji Mizushima and Tomoki Kyoda, written by Gen Urobuchi and produced by Koichi Noguchi, with animation work split between Toei Animation, Aniplex and Graphinica. It stands between Mizushima's Mobile Suit Gundam 00 films and his later Liberated from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart. Rie Kugimiya voices Angela, with Shin-ichiro Miki as Dingo, Hiroshi Kamiya as Frontier Setter, and Megumi Hayashibara, Minami Takayama and Kotono Mitsuishi in supporting roles.

Reception among viewers has been moderate. On IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10 from around 2,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 105 votes, suggesting a small but reasonably positive response rather than broad acclaim.
