Short description
A group of prisoners is exiled to the hostile planet XT-59, where they must survive a treacherous landscape to reach the Islands of Happiness. This safe haven is their only hope for survival against a lethal climate and dangerous creatures. As the group attempts the journey, internal conflict arises when one man, a former high-ranking official, realizes his former peers intend to kill him. The survivors split into two factions led by different men, though both groups follow similar, perilous paths through the wilderness in search of freedom.
Directed by Dmitry Grachev, this was the first of three films he directed, followed by Omar in the Big Movie and The Truckies. The production was a Russian effort involving Russia-1, Art Pictures Studio, and VGTRK, with a budget of 2 million USD. The cast features Evgeny Mironov, Vinnie Jones, Anna Chipovskaya, Nikita Panfilov, Kirill Kozakov, and Ivan Verkhovykh.
