The Young Messiah is a drama and fantasy film that follows a seven-year-old Jesus and his parents, Mary and Joseph. While living in Alexandria, Egypt, to escape the persecution of King Herod, young Jesus begins to realize he possesses unique abilities and questions the secrets his parents keep regarding his birth. Upon learning of Herod's death, the family travels back to Nazareth. However, they are pursued by a Roman centurion tasked with killing the boy, as the new heir to the throne intends to finish his father's mission.
Directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, this was the third film he directed, following The Day Reagan Was Shot and The Stoning of Soraya M. Nowrasteh also co-wrote the screenplay with Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh. The film was produced by Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe, and Michael Barnathan. The cast features Adam Greaves-Neal in the title role, alongside Sara Lazzaro, Vincent Walsh, Sean Bean, Jonathan Bailey, and Isabelle Adriani.
The production, a collaboration between the United States and Korea, had a budget of 19 million USD but earned 7 million USD at the worldwide box office. On TMDB, the film has a rating of 6.4/10 based on 150 votes.
