Return to Sender

Miranda Wells is a nurse in a small town, working toward a surgical position and hoping to move into a bigger house. When a man arrives at her door earlier than expected, she takes him for the blind date a colleague arranged, and he assaults her. He is caught and imprisoned, but the attack leaves lasting damage. Rather than put it behind her, Miranda begins writing to him and visiting him in prison, slowly earning his trust while her father cannot understand her choices.

Return to Sender was directed by Fouad Mikati from a screenplay by Patricia Beauchamp and Joe Gossett. It is Mikati's second feature, following Operation: Endgame in 2010. Rosamund Pike plays Miranda, with Shiloh Fernandez as William Finn and Nick Nolte as her father, Mitchell. Rumer Willis, Keir O'Donnell and Scout Taylor-Compton appear in supporting roles, among a credited cast of 27. Holly Wiersma and Candice Abela-Mikati produced the film for Voltage Pictures and Boo Pictures.

The film drew a critics' rating of 3.7 out of 10 from 36 reviews, while audiences were somewhat more receptive: on IMDb it holds 5.1 out of 10 from around 16,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.1 out of 10 from roughly 1,300 votes.
