Joe Dirt is settled into family life, married to Brandy and raising three daughters in a trailer park. Money is short and his new job as a logger has not earned him much respect from his coworkers. When a tornado tears through the area, he is thrown back to 1965, a world far from the one he knows. Stranded decades before his own time, he sets out to find a way home to his wife and children, and he soon realises that his knowledge of what is still to come could work to his advantage.
David Spade returns as the title character and co-wrote the screenplay with director Fred Wolf. The cast also includes Brittany Daniel, Patrick Warburton, Mark McGrath, Dennis Miller and Christopher Walken. It is the follow-up to Joe Dirt, released in 2001. Wolf's directing credits also take in The House Bunny, Strange Wilderness, Mad Families, Drunk Parents and 40-Love, with this film arriving fourth in that sequence.
The comedy runs 107 minutes and was released in July 2015. Reception was poor: on IMDb it holds 4.2 out of 10 from roughly 6,800 votes, and on TMDB 4.9 out of 10 from 179 votes. A critics' rating of 2.5 out of 10 from 10 reviews places it well below even those modest audience scores. The production was handled by Happy Madison Productions, Lifeboat Productions and Crackle Originals, with 96 credited cast members and 66 credited crew.
