Cleveland Abduction

Cleveland Abduction dramatizes the case of Michelle Knight, a young single mother who in 2002 was lured into the home of a man she knew, Ariel Castro. There he restrained her, and she remained his prisoner for roughly eleven years. Two other women, Gina DeJesus and Amanda Berry, were later held in the same house. In captivity the three became close, supporting one another as a kind of family until their release in 2013. The film follows Knight's ordeal and her determination not to lose hope of seeing her son again. It is based on a true story.

Alex Kalymnios directed from a screenplay by Stephen Tolkin, who also produced with David A. Rosemont for Lifetime, Sony Pictures Television Studios and Woodridge Productions. Taryn Manning plays Knight, with Raymond Cruz as Castro and Katie Sarife and Samantha Droke as the other captives; Pam Grier and Joe Morton appear in supporting roles. It runs 88 minutes.

The television film drew a sizable audience response: on IMDb it holds 6.6/10 from around 11,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.2/10 from 444 votes. Those totals suggest a widely seen broadcast title with a modest but generally favourable viewer reaction, rather than a theatrical release.
