Drake Parker and his stepbrother Josh Nichols land jobs at a movie theater during the holidays, with Drake hired as a street-corner Santa Claus. When a young girl named Mary Alice asks him for the best Christmas she has ever had, Drake promises to make it happen. A rooftop party that follows goes badly wrong, Josh is arrested, and an attempt to free him only makes matters worse. A judge offers the brothers a way out: give Mary Alice and her siblings a memorable Christmas, or spend years behind bars. Complicating their efforts is a Christmas-hating police officer assigned to keep watch over them.
The film is a Nickelodeon television comedy directed by Michael Grossman, written by Dan Schneider and Steven Molaro, and produced by Josh Peck. It brings back the cast of the Drake & Josh series, with Drake Bell and Josh Peck in the title roles, Miranda Cosgrove as their sister Megan, Nancy Sullivan and Jonathan Goldstein as their parents, and Bailee Madison as Mary Alice Johansson. It was the first of five features Grossman went on to direct, followed by Starstruck, The Christmas House, Safe and Ghost Light. Thirty-nine performers are credited.
Released in December 2008, the film runs 94 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 from roughly 4,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.4 from about 237 votes, a smaller but more enthusiastic sample.
