Baywatch

Baywatch follows veteran lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, who takes charge of a team patrolling a California beach. His authority is challenged by a new arrival, Matt Brody, a former Olympic swimmer whose career ended after a public scandal and who is brought onto the squad as a publicity move. The two clash over how the beach should be run, but when they uncover a criminal scheme that puts the bay and its shoreline in danger, the whole team has to work together.

The film is directed by Seth Gordon, whose earlier features include Four Christmases, Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief; it sits between those comedies and his later Back in Action. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the screenplay, and Ivan Reitman, Beau Flynn and Douglas Schwartz produced. Dwayne Johnson plays Mitch and Zac Efron plays Matt, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and Ilfenesh Hadera in supporting roles. It is a comedic action adaptation of the television series, made on a budget of 69 million USD, and it took in 178 million USD worldwide.

The film drew a mixed response. On IMDb it holds 5.5/10 from about 218,000 votes, and on TMDB it has 6.1/10 from roughly 8,600 votes, while the critics' rating stands lower at 4.1/10 from 244 reviews, indicating audiences were somewhat more forgiving than reviewers.
