- The Essex Corporation is a reference to Nathaniel Essex, also known as Mister Sinister, a supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe.
- Josh Boone planned to make this film the first part of a trilogy, the second of which would tell about an alien invasion and an alien mutant nicknamed the Sorcerer, and the third part would be a horror film based on the “Inferno” event from the X-Men comics (demons invade Earth, and Magic plays a key role).
