Atomic Blonde takes place in Berlin in November 1989, in the final days before the fall of the Wall. When a British MI6 officer is found dead, a list he had been carrying, containing the names of undercover agents active on both sides of the divided city, goes missing. Agent Lorraine Broughton is sent from London to recover it and to find out what happened to her colleague. Briefed by her MI6 superior and a CIA official, she works alongside David Percival, the local station chief, in a city full of unrest, surveillance and people whose loyalties are unclear.
The film is directed by David Leitch, appearing after John Wick and the short Deadpool: No Good Deed in his filmography, from a screenplay by Kurt Johnstad. Charlize Theron plays Lorraine and also produced. James McAvoy plays Percival, with Eddie Marsan, John Goodman, Toby Jones and James Faulkner among the cast. It is a German, Hungarian, American and Swedish co-production, made for about 30 million dollars, and its worldwide gross roughly tripled that figure at around 100 million.
On IMDb the film holds 6.7 out of 10 from about 219,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 6,800 votes. A critics' rating of 6.6 out of 10 from 365 reviews places it close to both audience scores.
