LBJ

LBJ is a biographical drama about Lyndon Baines Johnson, tracing his public life from his early years in West Texas through his time in Washington. The film centres on the political upheaval that follows the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas in November 1963, when Johnson is sworn in as the thirty-sixth president. It also covers his earlier career as a senator and his run for the vice presidency.

Woody Harrelson plays Johnson, with Michael Stahl-David as Robert F. Kennedy, Richard Jenkins as Senator Richard Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh as Lady Bird Johnson, Jeffrey Donovan as John F. Kennedy and Bill Pullman as Ralph Yarborough. Rob Reiner directed from a screenplay by Joey Hartstone, and Reiner produced alongside Liz Glotzer and Matthew George. The film runs 98 minutes.

Released in November 2017, LBJ was the eighteenth of the nineteen films Reiner has directed in chronological order, arriving between Shock and Awe and Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. Made on a budget of 37 million dollars, it took about 3 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from roughly 8,800 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 out of 10 from around 184 votes, while its critics' rating stands at 5.6 out of 10 from 84 reviews, lower than the audience scores.
