Wildling

Wildling centres on Anna, a girl who has spent her whole childhood confined to a single room in an isolated house, raised by a man she knows only as Daddy. He keeps her in line with frightening tales of a creature with sharp teeth and claws that hunts and eats children, so that she fears everything beyond her walls. At sixteen she is taken into the care of Ellen Cooper, the sheriff of a small town, and Ellen's teenage brother Ray. Adjusting to ordinary life proves difficult, and disturbing events begin to unsettle the community around her. Bel Powley plays Anna, with Liv Tyler as Ellen Cooper, Collin Kelly-Sordelet as Ray, Brad Dourif as Daddy and James Le Gros as Wolf Man.

The film was directed by Fritz Böhm, who wrote the screenplay with Florian Eder; it was produced by Liv Tyler, Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler, and made as a co-production between the United States, Germany and Sweden. It runs 92 minutes and mixes drama, fantasy, horror and thriller elements around its story of a girl learning how the outside world really works.

Wildling was released in April 2018. On IMDb it holds a critics' rating of 6.1/10 from 47 reviews, while on TMDB it sits at 5.4/10 from 401 votes, a gap suggesting critics responded to it somewhat more warmly than the wider audience did.
