Bloodsport III continues the story of Alex Cardo, a fighter who has stepped away from competition after winning a previous Kumite tournament. His retirement is disrupted when crime boss Jacques Duvalier, who runs the underground fights and wants Alex back in them, has Alex's mentor and friend Sun killed. Driven by revenge, Alex seeks out new teachers and a spiritual guide, Makato, who trains him to channel his mental and physical energy. He returns to the Kumite to face Duvalier's champion, a brutal fighter known as the Beast.
The film stars Daniel Bernhardt as Alex Cardo, with John Rhys-Davies as Duvalier, James Hong as Master Sun, Pat Morita as David Leung, Nicholas R. Oleson as the Beast and Amber Kelleher-Andrews as Crystal Duvalier. Alan Mehrez directed and produced, following his work on Bloodsport II the same year, from a screenplay by James Williams. It is a US production running 91 minutes.
Audience response has been modest. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.2 out of 10 from about 1,900 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.4 out of 10 from roughly 109 votes. These figures suggest a small, largely mixed viewership rather than a broad following.
