Sex and the City 2 continues the story of four friends from New York, two years after Carrie Bradshaw married Mr. Big. Carrie has published a book and settled into married life, Charlotte is raising two young daughters, Miranda is balancing her legal career with family, and Samantha is dealing with the changes that come with menopause. When Samantha is offered a trip to an luxurious destination in the Middle East, she invites the others along, and the four women leave their everyday responsibilities behind for a holiday together.

Michael Patrick King wrote, directed and produced the film, following the 2008 movie that continued the television series. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon return as the four leads, with Chris Noth as Mr. Big and David Eigenberg as Steve Brady among the large supporting cast.

The production had a budget of 100 million dollars and took in about 291 million dollars worldwide, a considerable return though well below the first film. Audiences were less enthusiastic than the box office suggested: on IMDb it holds 4.6 out of 10 from roughly 88,000 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 6 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes.
