Short description
A married woman realizes how unhappy her marriage really is, and that her life needs to go in a different direction. After a painful divorce, she takes off on a round-the-world journey to "find herself".

- Filming began in August 2009 and took place in New York, Naples, Rome, Pataudi, and Bali.
- As a condition of filming in Bali, actress Julia Roberts stipulated that her close family be present there with her during the shoot.
- Julia Roberts offered the role of director of the film to her friend Garry Marshall (1934-2016), but he did not want to leave the United States and declined. Instead, he offered the actress a role in his melodrama 'Valentine's Day' (2010), which he was filming at the time, and Roberts agreed. Ryan Murphy became the director of 'Eat Pray Love'.
