• The sequel was announced 3 days before the release of the first "Deadpool" film. Ryan Reynolds signed a contract to star in the sequel on April 6, 2016.
• Tim Miller, the director of the 2016 film "Deadpool", refused to shoot the sequel due to creative differences with Ryan Reynolds. Following Tim Miller, Junkie XL, a Dutch musician and composer who wrote the music for the first film, also left the project.
• Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lizzy Caplan, Kerry Washington, Sienna Miller, Ruby Rose, Mackenzie Davis, Kelly Rohrbach, Eve Hewson, Sofia Boutella, Stephanie Sigman, Sylvia Hoeks, and Janelle Monáe all auditioned for the role of Domino. After much deliberation, the filmmakers chose Zazie Beetz.
• The studio executives were considering David Leitch, Rupert Sanders, Drew Goddard, and Magnus Martens as directors for the sequel.
• Rob Liefeld, the original comic book author, wanted Russell Crowe to play Cable.
• The character Domino has vitiligo: a condition characterized by the loss of melanin in patches of skin.
