Short description

Bill Williamson is a young man in a quiet American town who has reached the end of his patience with ordinary life. Frustrated by his job, his parents and the society around him, and unsettled by the turmoil he sees in the news, he decides to strike back. He assembles a suit of body armour and a collection of weapons, then takes to the streets with the aim of killing everyone he encounters, convinced the world around him shares responsibility for his rage. What follows is a spree that tears through his hometown.

Uwe Boll directed and wrote the film, the tenth of the twenty features he has directed in chronological order, following Tunnel Rats and preceding BloodRayne: The Third Reich. Brendan Fletcher plays Bill, with Shaun Sipos, Michael Paré, Matt Frewer, Lynda Boyd and Robert Clarke among the credited cast of twenty-seven; the crew numbered 106. The film runs 84 minutes and was made as a German-Canadian production.

On TMDB it holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from around 500 votes, a middling response from a modest sample. Released in September 2009, the film remains a thriller about a single young man turning his private grievance into public violence.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film didn't have a script as such—just a 10-page treatment. Everything else was improvised by the actors on the fly.
  • The role of Billy was offered to Macaulay Culkin, but he turned it down.
  • There are no actors in the bingo game scene. When Brendan Fletcher's character appeared, the people's reactions were completely natural and not at all staged.
