Riphagen the Untouchable

Riphagen the Untouchable is a Dutch drama set in Amsterdam during the final phase of the Second World War. It follows Andries Riphagen, a career criminal who built his fortune by working for the Nazi occupiers. He tracked down Jews in hiding, extorted them, and is said to have driven hundreds to their deaths, while also infiltrating and destroying resistance networks. When the war nears its end and the occupiers lose their grip, surviving resistance fighters come out of hiding to pursue collaborators, and Riphagen becomes one of their targets. The story is based on a real figure from the Amsterdam underworld.

Pieter Kuijpers directed the film, which he also produced, from a screenplay by Paul Jan Nelissen and Thomas van der Ree. It was made for around 3 million dollars and runs 132 minutes. Jeroen van Koningsbrugge plays Andries Riphagen, heading a cast that also includes Kay Greidanus, Lisa Zweerman, Anna Raadsveld, Antoinette Jelgersma and Sigrid ten Napel, with 41 credited performers in total.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 7.1 from roughly 9,300 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.5 from around 184 votes. The much larger body of IMDb voters rates it somewhat more favourably than the smaller TMDB group.
