Loose Cannons

Tommaso is the youngest member of the Cantone family, who operate a traditional pasta business in southern Italy. While living in Rome and studying literature, Tommaso plans to return home to reveal his homosexuality to his traditional parents. However, during a family dinner, his older brother Antonio reveals his own sexuality first. This leads to a confrontation where their father expels Antonio from the home and suffers a medical emergency. Consequently, Tommaso is unexpectedly thrust into a leadership role within the family company. He struggles to maintain this facade and hide his true identity to protect his father's health, a situation further complicated by a surprise visit from his friends.

Directed by Ferzan Özpetek, this film is the fourth of 13 works by the director, following Saturn in Opposition and preceding Naples in Veils. The screenplay was written by Özpetek and Ivan Cotroneo.
