I Am Love

Emma Recchi, a Russian woman who has married into a wealthy Milanese industrial family, lives a life of comfort as the wife of Tancredi Recchi, head of the family business, and mother of three grown children. When the family patriarch announces his plans to pass control of the company to his son and grandson, the succession stirs tensions inside an already cold household. Into this world comes Antonio, a talented young chef and a friend of Emma's son Edoardo, who wants his friend's help to open a restaurant of his own. Emma finds herself drawn to Antonio, and the attraction between them develops into an affair that places her at odds with the expectations of the Recchi family and the social circle she belongs to.

I Am Love is a 2010 drama directed by Luca Guadagnino, the fourth of the thirteen films he has directed, arriving after Melissa P. and before A Bigger Splash. The screenplay was written by Barbara Alberti, Guadagnino and Walter Fasano. Tilda Swinton, who also produced, stars as Emma, alongside Flavio Parenti, Edoardo Gabbriellini, Alba Rohrwacher, Pippo Delbono and Maria Paiato.

The film had a budget of about 10 million dollars and took roughly 11 million dollars worldwide, a modest return. Audiences rate it 7 out of 10 on IMDb from 26,000 votes and 6.7 out of 10 on TMDB from 420 votes, while critics gave it 7.3 out of 10 across 137 reviews, placing critical approval above the viewer scores.
