The Straw Hat Pirates cross paths with Shiki, a notorious pirate known as the Golden Lion who has returned after twenty years in hiding. Shiki is putting the finishing touches to a plan aimed at the World Government, and when he learns how skilled Nami is at reading weather and navigation, he takes her with him against her will to serve on his crew. Luffy and the others set out to get her back, a search that leaves them scattered across a floating island where unusually large and aggressive animals live. Shiki's scheme and the crew's effort to reunite form the film's central conflict.
