Short description
Liam Page left his hometown and his fiancée, Josie, on their wedding day, choosing a career in country music over the life they had planned together. Years later he has become a successful touring performer, recognized wherever he goes, but he returns to his small Louisiana town for the funeral of a close childhood friend. The visit brings him face to face with Josie for the first time since he walked away, along with the family and community he left behind. His father, a pastor, is among those who receive him coolly. As Liam tries to reconnect with the place that shaped him, Josie works to keep her distance from the man who once broke her heart.
Bethany Ashton Wolf directed and wrote the screenplay, her second feature after Little Chenier in 2008. Alex Roe plays Liam and Jessica Rothe plays Josie, with Abby Ryder Fortson, John Benjamin Hickey, Peter Cambor and Tyler Riggs among the credited cast of 40. Produced by Mickey Liddell, Jennifer Monroe and Pete Shilaimon for LD Entertainment, the film cost about 4 million dollars and took roughly 16 million worldwide.
It is a drama with music and romance at its centre. On IMDb it holds 6.6 from about 25,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.6 from roughly 1,400 votes. A critics' rating of 4.4 from 53 reviews places professional response well below the audience scores.
