I Kill Giants

Barbara Thorson is a teenager who does not fit in at school. She claims that giants are real and that it is her job to hunt them, a mission that puzzles her classmates, teachers and family, who see only a troubled girl. A new student, Sophia, is the one person who tries to get close to her. Barbara's school psychologist, Mrs. Mollé, tries to reach her as well, while Barbara keeps preparing for the confrontation she believes is coming.

The film is based on the graphic novel by Joe Kelly, who wrote the screenplay. It was directed by Anders Walter, and it is the first feature he directed, followed by Before It Ends in 2023. Madison Wolfe plays Barbara, with Zoe Saldaña as Mrs. Mollé, Imogen Poots as Karen Thorson, Sydney Wade as Sophia, Rory Jackson as Taylor and Art Parkinson as Dave. Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan and Kim Magnusson are among the producers, and the production involved companies from the United States, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Released in 2017, the film runs 106 minutes and blends drama with fantasy. It was made for about 15 million dollars, a modest figure for a fantasy production, and its audience scores sit close to the middle: on IMDb it holds 6.1 out of 10 from roughly 34,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from about 1,300 votes. Critics were somewhat more favorable, giving it 6.7 out of 10 across 60 reviews.
