Short description
Annette is a drama with elements of romance and musical performance, set in present-day Los Angeles. Henry is a stand-up comedian whose stage persona thrives on provocation, while Ann is an opera singer of international fame. Together they present the image of a glamorous couple living in the spotlight. Their daughter Annette arrives, and the child turns out to possess an unusual gift that reshapes the lives of her parents.

What's left behind the scenes
- "Annette" wasn't conceived as a film; it was originally intended to be an album by the band Sparks. In 2009, the band had already recorded and released a musical called "The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman." However, given the large number of participants in the musical, it proved difficult to perform on tour, so the band wrote the screenplay for "Annette."
- For the most part, the main characters sing themselves, however, Marion Cotillard's singing was also dubbed by Catherine Trotmann.
- Simon Helberg was so eager to get a role in "Annette" that he obtained French citizenship and learned French, as the filmmakers needed to cast as many residents of European countries as possible in order to secure funding from the EU budget. As for Marion Cotillard, she got the role that was previously intended for Rooney Mara, and before her, Michelle Williams.
- The role of the main character was initially offered to Kristen Stewart, but it turned out she couldn't sing.
