Where Hands Touch

Where Hands Touch is set in Germany in 1944 and follows Leyna, a fifteen-year-old girl whose mother is white German and whose father is Black. Because of her skin colour, she lives under constant threat in a country where Nazi racial laws make her existence dangerous. She meets Lutz, a member of the Hitler Youth and the son of a high-ranking SS officer, and the two form a close bond that puts them both at risk as persecution around them intensifies.

Amma Asante directed and wrote the film, her third feature after Belle (2013) and A United Kingdom (2016), and it was produced by Adrian Politowski, Gilles Waterkeyn and Charlie Hanson. The cast includes Amandla Stenberg as Leyna, George MacKay as Lutz, Abbie Cornish, Christopher Eccleston, Tom Sweet and Alec Newman among twenty-one credited performers. The production, a British one, runs 122 minutes across drama, romance and war.

On IMDb the film holds 6.6/10 from around 6,300 votes, while on TMDB it has 7.9/10 from over 540 votes, a wide gap between the two audiences.
