Short description
A group of friends in Los Angeles is woken by a blinding light that seems to arrive hours before dawn. From a high-rise apartment they watch people pour into the streets, drawn toward an intense glow, and disappear into vast alien vessels hanging over the city. As the scale of the attack becomes clear, the survivors must stay ahead of the machines and creatures sweeping the streets in search of anyone left behind.
Skyline is a 2010 American science fiction thriller directed by Colin Strause and Greg Strause, their second feature after Aliens vs Predator: Requiem. Joshua Cordes and Liam O'Donnell wrote the screenplay, and the brothers produced alongside O'Donnell. Eric Balfour and Scottie Thompson lead the cast as Jarrod and Elaine, with Donald Faison, Brittany Daniel, David Zayas and Crystal Reed among the principal players.
Made for about 11 million dollars, the film took roughly 67 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. Audience response was modest: on IMDb it holds 4.5/10 from around 94,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.1/10 from a much smaller pool of 1,853 votes. A film critics' rating of 3.6/10 from 82 reviews places professional assessment slightly below the audience scores.
