• The television film is based on the novel "Birdsong" by British writer Sebastian Faulks, written in 1993. It tells the story of Stephen Wraysford’s life before and during World War I. "Birdsong" is part of a trilogy that also includes the novels "Charlotte Gray" and "The Girl at the Lion d'Or."
• When Eddie Redmayne's character crosses the stream during one of the final battles (Episode 2, 44:50-45:10), the corpse in the background, hanging in the bushes, moves constantly. Before that, one of the enemies, shot by the main character, runs several meters after being hit by a bullet, begins to aim in the opposite direction, and only then "suddenly" falls.
• The original title translates to "The Unconscious".
