Vanishing on 7th Street is a horror mystery set in Detroit, where an unexplained blackout leaves the city nearly empty. People have disappeared without a trace, leaving behind only their clothes, abandoned cars and silent streets. A television reporter, a cinema projectionist, a physiotherapist and a young boy each find their way to a rundown bar on Seventh Street that still has power from a backup generator, along with food and drink. As daylight itself begins to fade, the survivors come to believe they may be the last people left, while a presence in the darkness closes in on them and the light they depend on.
The film was directed by Brad Anderson, its screenplay written by Anthony Jaswinski. It followed Anderson's earlier features Happy Accidents, Session 9, The Machinist and TransSiberian. Hayden Christensen plays Luke, with Thandiwe Newton as Rosemary, John Leguizamo as Paul and Jacob Latimore as James. It was produced by Celine Rattray, Norton Herrick and Tove Christensen, among a credited crew of 61.
Made for a budget of 10 million USD, the film returned about 2 million USD worldwide. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.3 out of 10 from 635 votes, while film critics rated it 5 out of 10 across 60 reviews, putting the two roughly in line with each other.
