Dog Pound

Three teenagers are sent to a juvenile correctional facility in Montana. Butch, seventeen, was convicted of assaulting a probation officer; Davis, sixteen, of drug dealing; and Angel, fifteen, of stealing a car by force. Inside, they encounter a harsh hierarchy run by other inmates, with the imposing Banks at its head, and a guard, Goodyear, whose treatment of the boys shifts when they refuse to inform on the prisoners who exploit them. Each of the new arrivals has to work out where he stands, and one of them is drawn into the orbit of the inmate leader, setting off a cycle of retaliation.

The film is the second feature directed by Kim Chapiron, following Satan in 2006, and he wrote the screenplay with Jeremie Delon. Georges Bermann produced, and the cast includes Adam Butcher as Butch, Shane Kippel as Davis, Mateo Morales as Angel, Taylor Poulin as Banks, Slim Twig as Max and Dewshane Williams as Frank.

Released in 2010 and running ninety-one minutes, it was made as a co-production between the United Kingdom, Canada and France, with Canal+, Téléfilm Canada, CNC and Mars Films among the production companies. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 14,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 7.2 out of 10 from 416 votes. A film critics' rating of 6.2 out of 10 from 27 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores.
