The Royal Exchange

Set in 1721, this historical drama follows the efforts of the French regent to establish a lasting peace with Spain after years of costly conflict. To stabilize the economies of both nations, a strategic plan is created to marry off four children of varying ages. The arrangement involves the young Louis XV and the daughter of the Spanish king, while the regent's own daughter is betrothed to the heir of the Spanish throne. Although the exchange of princesses takes place with great ceremony at the border, the political goals of the adults clash with the personal wills and impulsiveness of the children involved.

The film was directed by Marc Dugain, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Chantal Thomas.
