Five strangers board an elevator in a Philadelphia office tower and become stuck between floors. What looks like an ordinary breakdown turns threatening as strange things happen inside the sealed car, and the people trapped together come to suspect that one of them is not who they appear to be. A detective outside works the case while those inside turn on each other.

The film was directed by John Erick Dowdle, his third feature after The Poughkeepsie Tapes and Quarantine, from a screenplay by Brian Nelson and a story by M. Night Shyamalan, who also produced. Chris Messina plays Detective Bowden, with Bojana Novaković, Jenny O'Hara, Logan Marshall-Green, Jacob Vargas and Bokeem Woodbine among the passengers and building staff. It runs 80 minutes.

Made for about 10 million dollars, it took roughly 34 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.3/10 from around 165,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.1/10 from about 3,200 votes. A critics' rating of 5.1/10 from 98 reviews places professional response below the audience scores.
