Sahara

Set in North Africa in June 1942, this war film follows US Army Sergeant Joe Gunn as he leads his tank through the Sahara desert. After the fall of Tobruk, Gunn and a small group of Allied soldiers attempt to reach their own lines while evading the advancing forces of General Rommel. As the group struggles with a severe lack of water, they discover an ancient well. This water source is also the target of a German battalion, and despite the overwhelming odds, Gunn decides to fight to defend the location.

The movie was directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith, marking the fifth of 13 films he directed. It followed the release of Leprechaun 3 and preceded Leprechaun 4: In Space. The cast is led by Jim Belushi in the role of Sergeant Joe Gunn, appearing alongside Jerome Ehlers, Michael Massee, Robert Wisdom, Mark Lee, and Angelo D'Angelo. Written by David Phillips and produced by Darryl Sheen, the production was a collaboration between TriStar Pictures, Showtime Networks, and Village Roadshow Entertainment from Australia and the United States.
