Titanic II

A century after the Titanic's maiden voyage, a new luxury liner named Titanic II sets out to retrace the original ship's route. The commemorative crossing is meant to honor the past, but a tsunami drives an iceberg directly into the vessel's path, leaving passengers and crew to fight for survival on the open ocean.

Shane van Dyke directed, wrote and stars in this disaster film from The Asylum, the studio behind numerous low-budget genre releases. Van Dyke appears as Hayden Walsh, alongside Marie Westbrook, Bruce Davison, Brooke Burns, Michelle Glavan and Carey van Dyke. David Michael Latt produced the 90-minute film, which blends action, adventure, drama, romance and thriller elements and runs just over an hour and a half.

Released in August 2010, the film received a weak reception. On IMDb it holds a rating of 1.7 from roughly 14,000 votes, while on TMDB its average is 4.8 from about 465 votes. The much higher TMDB figure reflects a far smaller group of viewers, while the larger IMDb sample points to widespread dissatisfaction. The gap between the two, and the low scores overall, suggests the film found little favor even among audiences accustomed to low-budget disaster movies.
