Christmas Inheritance follows Ellen Langford, a wealthy young woman engaged to be married and set to take over her father's gift company. Before she can inherit it, her father sends her to Snow Falls, the small town where he grew up, with a simple errand: deliver a letter to his former business partner. Unable to find the man and stranded by a snowstorm, Ellen is left without money and takes work at the local inn to support herself, where the innkeeper, Jake Collins, offers her help. What she discovers there is the value of work, generosity and the spirit of the season.
The film is a romantic comedy from 2017 directed by Ernie Barbarash, marking the ninth of eighteen features in his directing career and following Pound of Flesh in 2015. It was written by Dinah Eng and produced by David Anselmo, with Eliza Taylor leading the cast as Ellen alongside Jake Lacy, Andie MacDowell, Ben Rosenbaum, Neil Crone and Michael Xavier.
Released in December 2017, the film runs 105 minutes and was produced by Motion Picture Corporation of America and Hideaway Pictures on a budget of about 10 million dollars. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.7 from 14,000 votes, and on TMDB it has a rating of 6.3 from 860 votes, indicating a warmer but still mixed response from the smaller audience sample relative to the larger one.
