Eun-yi takes a job as a maid in the household of a wealthy businessman, where she looks after the house, the pregnant mistress of the family and their young daughter. The arrangement soon turns into a sexual relationship between Eun-yi and her employer, Hoon. The other women in the house, including his wife and her mother, learn what is going on, and when Eun-yi becomes pregnant the household turns against her. What began as a position of service becomes a struggle in which she has to defend herself.
The film is Im Sang-soo's 2010 drama, a reworking of Kim Ki-young's 1960 Korean film of the same name, and it sits between his earlier features A Good Lawyer's Wife and The President's Last Bang and his later The Taste of Money and Rio, I Love You. Im wrote the screenplay, and the cast is led by Jeon Do-yeon as Eun-yi, with Lee Jung-jae as Hoon, Youn Yuh-jung as the senior servant Miss Cho, Seo Woo, Park Ji-young and Ahn Seo-hyun.
Made for about four million dollars, the film drew a moderate audience reception: it holds a rating of 6.4 on IMDb from roughly fifteen thousand votes and 6.3 on TMDB from a few hundred votes. A critics' score of 6.7 from seventy-two reviews places it slightly above those viewer figures.
